MODESTO 2ND ANNUAL WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION LUNCHEON [MARCH 2022]
It was an honor to speak at the 2nd Annual WIC luncheon in downtown Modesto at Greens on 10th Street put on by the Valley Builders Exchange. 200 women and yes, some men included, came together for an afternoon to celebrate the achievements of Women in Construction.
Reflecting on my 33 years as a business owner in this industry, I can see that an attitude I adopted early on of “never give up” has served me well. It wasn’t easy starting out with a desk in our bedroom doing paperwork while my 3 little children played in the other room with a babysitter.
These were humble beginnings, but it laid a firm foundation for weathering some pretty heavy storms with the recessions and recently, the pandemic. Many, many times I’ve had to remind myself to keep my eyes on God, not to give up and to rely on the great people around me that make this company such a success.
It was a great feeling when a few women came up to me afterwards and said that my experiences in life and business inspired them. In that moment, the challenging times didn’t seem to carry such a heavy burden.
Listening to the other guestspeakers, our stories are not that different. We all strive to make our companies and the work that we do the best in our fields.
Modesto Executive Electric has a stellar reputation, and I am so proud of our team for aspiring to achieve this status.
