Wrapping Up Another School Project
As I was walking around taking some pictures of a two-building school project that we are wrapping up, I was thinking, “Well, another one for the books!” Looking back at the photos can feel bittersweet, like finishing a good chapter… or a bad one. Luckily, this was a good one.
This project allowed us to replace old portable buildings for the school’s kindergarten classes. Not only did we create newer, modern, and permanent classrooms, but we also designed a much more secure area for the youngest students. With a direct route from the bus drop-off and parking lot to a separate fenced-in playground, every element of this project was about making it as safe as possible for the little ones.
Building Safety and Security
We’ve been on this site for over a year. Beyond the two new classroom buildings, we also installed new exterior/site emergency egress lighting and completed a campus-wide fire alarm system upgrade.
These upgrades ensure the school has reliable systems in place to protect students, staff, and visitors for years to come.
A Shift Toward Renewable Energy
As I finished my walk around campus, I thought, “That’s a wrap.” But then I looked up—and saw the new solar panels installed on both buildings. That’s when it hit me: this isn’t the end of a journey, it’s the beginning of a new one.
For years, we’ve been installing infrastructure for “future solar” on new buildings. With recent code updates, however, the future is here. This project became our first installation requiring solar and a BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). And with several more projects lined up under the same requirements, this is just the start.
Looking Ahead
This milestone represents more than just a completed project—it represents a step toward sustainable energy solutions for schools and communities. By combining critical electrical upgrades with renewable energy systems, we are helping pave the way for a brighter, safer, and more energy-efficient future.
