In April’s Words…
Time spent with the company
I was with them for 5 years and then left to have a 2nd child and then came back! This second run as been 1.5 years… so overall 6.5 years!
What I think about Modesto Executive Electric
Modesto Executive Electric is a close-knit family. We’re a small business that does so many fun activities with our employees, like annual crab feeds, holiday dinners, we all go out and spend days at the lake, we get together for family BBQs...overall, the company is very family-oriented and I love that!
Quick note on the Construction/Electrical Contracting Industry
From my perspective, the biggest challenge in the industry since I run the back office and human resources elements is that I’m finding that coming by really high-quality people that are available is a big challenge right now. Since there very few Journeyman Electricians out there that are available, and since we have some larger electrical contracting companies surrounding us, it’s a challenge to find those that have been through an apprenticeship program.
Some Facts…
WE ARE SEEKING QUALITY JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIANS!
In order for us to do public works projects, which is a bulk of what we do, we have to be in compliance with AB 566 and AB 1358 (in California). With that being said, that limits who we CAN hire. But, the biggest thing that we need to get out into the world is that we are 100% willing to hire a journeyman electrician after their probation period, put them through a Fast Track Program with ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.), and then get them going on our projects.
But we have to find those that are going to commit to us, look at the opportunity of having the support of a family-like business that we provide, and look to a longer term employment. We must have that for us to be willing to support someone and put them through the Fast Track Program with ABC.
The qualities for Journeyman Electricians that we seek come down to some fundamental qualities and values that we must see: dependable, great communication skills, close attention to detail, be on-the-job type of problem-solvers, be capable of training an apprentice on a daily basis, and we must have loyalty and total commitment.
Something that makes us unique compared to other Electrical Contracting companies...
We’ll have a BBQ for our people to come hang out and sometimes do a little extra training or have a safety meeting. We want to continuously see how everyone is feeling about our job sites and if they have any input or suggestions to make things operate better overall. It’s about going that little extra mile for our clients and asking our employees what they think as that’s incredibly important to us.
