Foreman Spotlight: Jeff Bordona - Leading the Crew at Central Valley High School

Foreman Spotlight Blog Series (2 of 4)

For National Construction Appreciation Week, we're continuing our foreman spotlight series with Jeff Bordona, who leads Modesto Executive Electric's crew at Central Valley High School.

On the Job at Central Valley High School

Jeff has been on-site at Central Valley High School, overseeing MEE's electrical work on the campus. Projects on active school campuses come with their own challenges, tight schedules, coordination with the district, and a job that has to be done right the first time. Jeff and his crew have kept the project moving while keeping safety and quality front and center.

Jeff has spent his career solving exactly this kind of coordination puzzle. One of his favorite recent projects was retrofitting Musco Stadium lighting across five different campuses in Elk Grove, all within a six-week window. "When the project started, I didn't think we were gonna pull it off in the six-week window, but we actually finished ahead of time," Jeff said. "We had to move around on five different campuses... we couldn't do one campus at a time. We had to do kind of like each piece and keep going around and around."

Jeff Bordona has been in the electrical trade since the early 1990s, getting his start as a PG&E summer helper on a project in Arizona doing hand digging in the desert. He was around 19 or 20 at the time, with no real plan beyond the opportunity in front of him. More than three decades later, that early job has turned into a career built on consistency and trust, and today he leads crews as a foreman at MEE.

For Jeff, the reward of the job comes down to a simple result: "That is my favorite part of the job, is seeing the lights come on," he said. "At the end of the day, everything's concealed in walls and nobody really realizes what it took to make that light come on."

Leading a crew, for Jeff, means teaching the fundamentals so no detail gets missed. "A good foreman is someone who leads by example," Jeff said. "Sometimes you realize you need to explain every infinite detail... I think that's what I try to make sure I put special attention into when I get these new guys."

Why We're Celebrating

National Construction Appreciation Week is about recognizing the people behind projects like this one, the foremen and crews who show up every day to build and maintain the places our communities rely on. Jeff is a great example of the leadership and craftsmanship behind every MEE project.

Thank you, Jeff, for everything you bring to this crew and this project.
