Construction Purchasing Agent
Details of Position:
- Full-time, Monday-Friday
- Responsible for the procurement and management of electrical commodityitems for daily use as well as specialized purchasing and operations duties described below. Will coordinate with manufacturer rep agencies and local wholesalers on a regular basis. A reliable purchasing agent possesses a keen sense of business, keeps detailed transaction records and tracking of long lead material orders. This position also requires the management of the company fleet vehicles, equipment and tools for tracking, maintenance and repairs.
Essential Functions: (Include the following: other duties may be assigned)
- Works closely with the Estimating team with bid documents,proposal development, source and vet vendors and suppliers during bid and post-award phases
- Analyzing proposals, and prices to determine reasonable prices for products and services
- Reviewing requisition requirements, preparing purchase orders, and soliciting bids from different providers for products and services
- Scheduling and verifying deliveries
- Keeps Project Managers fully informed of all problems or matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.
- Balancing cost and quality to source excellent quality products and services at the lowest price in adequate amounts
- Keeping accurate records of all transactions & purchase orders
- Responsible for keeping track material purchase orders, and transactions
- Develop and manage vendor/supplier relationships
- Responsible for verifying and organizing material deliveries
- Working with AP department to resolve pricing discrepancies
- Keeps track of all vehicles & equipment for maintenance and repairs
- Responsible for all tool check out/in andmaintenance/repair
Requirements:
- Electrical constructionshop/warehousing, and/or Electrical wholesale supplier experience preferred, but not required
- High School diploma or G.E.D.; or 2 - 5 years of purchasing/buying experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to work independentlyand prioritize tasks effectively with little supervision
- Must demonstrate goodtime management skills
- Must possess strongplanning, organizational and execution skills
- Must have the ability toset goals and meet deadlines
- Must possess excellentcustomer service skills
- Must demonstrateownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner
- Must possess a proactiveand positive team approach to problem resolution

Journeyman
Details of Position:
- MEE is seeking Skilled & Trained Journeyman level electricians for Public Works projects.
Essential Functions:
- Install, repair, maintain, and test commercial, industrial electrical systems
- Use industry related hand tools and power tools.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, etc. and install wire and electrical cable system, conduit systems and other wire raceway systems.
- Feed to, pull into, and terminate wire and cable within control centers, distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switch gear, receptacles, switches, etc.
- Splice and terminate wires at junction points.
- Troubleshoot equipment electrical systems and control circuits and build control panels from drawings.
- Delegate tasks and assist with training other employees.
- Communicate effectively with Foremen and crew members.
- Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues, customers and vendors.
- Adhere to all MEE’s safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Must hold a current CA Journeyman electrician card.
- Must be graduated from a California state approved apprenticeship program, i.e., ABC, WECA or union.
- Ability to install power systems: lighting, fire protection, security, and data network.
- Ability to build and install control panels and provide maintenance to systems.
- Experience using Electrical Single Line blueprints.
- Experience finding and repairing faults in electrical apparatus and circuits.
- Ability to verify compliance and functionality of installations.
- Experience helping with the management of a project and crew.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and pre-planning abilities.
Physical Demands
- Lift 50 lbs. from the ground and pull 50 lbs. of force.
- Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit bending.
- Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt.
- Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
- Work off of ladders, man lifts or reach booms.
Benefits:
- Benefits available after probation period including medical, 401k, paid sick leave, paid holidays and paid vacation.
- Some projects will require travel.
- Pay: $48.00 to $83.00 (depending on which county the project is in)
